Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Will my credits transfer from your school to another school?
    It is up to the receiving institution to determine if credits are transferable.
  2. I already have my immunizations. Will you accept a copy?
    Yes, as long as they are current.
  3. How recent do my immunizations have to be?
    TB and Physical  must be within one year. All other immunizations must be up to date as needed. You may visit your primary care physician for your drug screen, physical, and immunizations. Prospective students must complete and pass a drug screen within 90 days proir to the start date. The background check must be completed within 90 days prior to the start date.
  4. Can I get my background check in another state other than Ohio?
    No. It must be administered in Ohio.
  5. Are you accredited?
    Yes. Athena Career Academy is accredited by the Commission of the Council on Occupational Education. It is also approved by the US Department of Education. The school is registered with the Ohio Board of Colleges and Schools and operates under the authority of the Ohio Board of Nursing and Ohio Department of Health.
  6. Does Athena offer Financial Aid?
    Yes. Athena Career Academy is proud to announce Title IV Financial Aid is available for our day and evening Practical Nursing and Clinical Medical Assistant Programs, for those who qualify. We will assist each student throughout the Financial Aid process. Please call (419) 472-1150 to schedule your personal Financial Aid appointment.
  7. Where do I get fitted for my uniforms?
    The uniform fittings are done during the orientation session at Athena Career Academy.

  1. When are the exams offered?
    Tuesdays-10:00am-1:00pm
    Wednesdays- 3:00pm-6:00 pm
    Fridays- 10:00am-1:00pm
  2. How much does the test?
    $30.00, pre-payed, non-refundable.
  3. When will I know my results?
    Immediately after completing the test
  4. What do I need to pass?
    The exam consists of 3 sections- Applied math, Locating Information, and Reading for Information.  You will need to score a minimum score of a 4 in Applied Math & Locating Information, and a minimum score of a 5 in Reading
  5. What are the requirements to take the test?
    You must attend an Informational Session, pay $30.00 for the exam, and schedule a  time to take the exam.
  6. Do you accept WorkKeys from other schools.
    Yes
  7. How long is the exam?
    You are given 1 hour for each section.  Plan to be at the school for about 3 hours.
  8. If I fail one section, do I have to take all three sections over?
    No- If you fail a section you may take that section over.  You will have to wait 48 hours to re-schedule and you must pay $10.00 per section.  If you fail for a 2nd time you must wait 8 weeks and provide documentation that you received remediation/tutoring from an outside source and you must pay $10.00 per section.
  9. What type of payments do you accept for the exam?
    Cash, credit, and money orders.  NO CHECKS
  10. What happens after I pass?
     You must make an appointment with Financial Aid.  You will also be eligible to purchase a Background/Drug Screen/ Certified Profile for $25.00 to begin uploading all required enrollment documents
